A keen 16 year old friend of mine exclaimed when she saw this painting, “Oh! It’s like looking into a crack of happiness!” I loved the simplicity of her vision of this 30 inch x 20 inch oil painting on canvas.

My vision of it - is that it represents a portal into the elemental forces and energies that formed the cliffs millions of years ago when oceans, compression and uplift were at work.

 The crescent shapes of orange light in the sunlit parts of these real cliffs in my mountain valley home captured my attention sharply. So I was moved to repeat the crescent shapes in the large fields of color and texture throughout the rest of the design.
