Blue Dog was our soul mate and teacher. My husband and I considered him to be a true friend.

He loved to retrieve, as Labrador Retrievers do. When I snapped a photo of him that I used to paint his image in the center of this piece, I got the impression that with that stick in his mouth, in that moment, he was truly experiencing ‘Nirvana’.

We used to go hiking with him a lot, so I set the scene in the mat to be one of the mountain hillsides where we loved to go with Blue Dog.

This 25 inch x 27 inch painting is done with pastels on sanded paper and mat.
I carved and painted the frame as well. You can see more photos below. - G.P.L.
